The Diplomat is an intense dramatic thriller based on true events. The movie revolves around Indian diplomat JP Singh, essayed by John Abraham and his task at hand in saving Uzma Ahmad from a precarious situation in Pakistan. Against the foundation of extremely strained Indo-Pak relations, the film deals with issues of diplomacy, courage and the paramount difficulties courted by foreign service officer in high risk situation.
Storyline
The movie is based on the life of Uzma Ahmad, a 20-year-old Indian girl, who is hitchhiked to Pakistan where she gets spilled into an ashamed marital relationship. Her rescue bid is then compounded by a chaotic diplomatic drama after seeking the help of the Indian embassy. In this film, John Abraham is seen as JP Singh-the resolute diplomat who, with Sushma Swaraj then Foreign Affairs Minister (played by Revathy) comprises the simplicity of international surroundings to Ray of light Uzma. The movie also brings up the Kulbhushan Jadhav case very briefly, increasing the stakes further.

Ritesh Shah’s script has an inherent power, based on true events and has penned a strong human drama. The storytelling has together with itself, even if drama times vocals overpower cinema in terms of enticing, though. Never the less, The Diplomat is a good entertainer which will do reasonably well at the box office.
